Fareham MP Suella Braverman hailed a trailblazing Hampshire tech firm for leading the way in digital innovation and joining the fight against COVID-19 when she paid a special visit to their office.
The Attorney General praised MediaBase Direct (MBD) after hearing how its cutting-edge e-Reception Book has been adopted by businesses, schools, care homes and other companies nationwide to replace the paper-based visitor books and other staff logging books.
Mrs Braverman was told how the visitor management system (VMS) has proven its worth during the pandemic and has been updated to integrate with the NHS COVID-19 contact tracing app for England and Wales.
The e-Reception Book allows staff, visitors, contractors and other users to electronically sign into a venue on a tablet rather than in a traditional book. Its touch-less features also allow for registration with NHS COVID-19 contact tracing QR codes.
Mrs Braverman met staff and toured the MBD offices in a socially distanced visit at Arena Business Centres’ Lancaster Court in Barnes Wallis Road, Fareham.
MBD director Anil Jain said: “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the Attorney General Mrs Braverman and we are very grateful that she was able to find the time in her very busy schedule to visit.
“Robust digital safety is now critically important, not only because of GDPR but also for building risk assessment compliance and to complement physical measures in place to combat COVID-19.
“It was clear from her visit that Mrs Braverman recognises the role that dynamic tech companies play in digital transformation and the benefits this can bring to society and the economy. We would be very pleased to assist in any initiatives she may have in the future.”
MBD has been delivering database and digital solutions for more than 25 years and recently recruited two apprentices specifically to support its e-Reception Book project.
Mrs Braverman, who was elected as Fareham MP in 2015, also saw MBD’s digital mailroom and inventory systems on her visit.
She said: “MediaBase Direct is a very much a success story which epitomises the innovation, creativity and dynamism of the tech sector in my constituency.
“Impressive developments such as its e-Reception Book which are easy to use will be crucial to ensure technological change delivers tangible benefits for society and business.
“The company is to be congratulated for its excellence and contribution to digital safeguarding to help us face the challenging times ahead.”
MBD’s e-Reception Book is fully GDPR compliant and is 100 per cent secure and encrypted.
The Data Marketing Association (DMA) endorsed system allows for pre-registration of visitors at sites and for facility managers to monitor headcounts in real time.
It is in use at all 10 Arena Business Centres across the South, as well as trusted by hundreds of other companies.
Helen Deverill, Arena marketing director, said: “We take our workplace responsibilities extremely seriously.
“A robust digital safety system is paramount. The e-Reception Book not only provides this but also saves time, is simple to use and makes the check-in process much easier for all involved.”
MBD is based in London and Hampshire. Visit www.mediabasedirect.com for more details.
